EDO2024: Adams Oshiomhole Rebukes Edo First Lady Betsy Obaseki Over Controversial Remarks on Governorship Candidates’ Wives
In a recent political exchange, former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, criticized the First Lady of Edo State, Betsy Obaseki, over her remarks during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign flag-off. Betsy Obaseki had emphasized that only Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate, had a wife among the governorship contenders, highlighting the presence of his wife, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, as a key factor for women in the state to support his candidacy.
Oshiomhole responded to this statement by pointing out that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, not only has children but has also heavily invested in their education. He mentioned that Okpebholo’s children, including a lawyer and a medical doctor, have been actively involved in the campaign, along with their mother, who has been present at various campaign events across the state.
This exchange reflects the ongoing tensions between the two major political parties in Edo State as they prepare for the upcoming governorship election. The comments made by both sides highlight the strategic importance of family and personal values in the campaign narratives.
